You moved into a house with an existing home security system
Sometimes when you close on a house, a home security system is already established. All the alarms and cameras function well, are hung in the right areas, and are ready to go. In this instance, you might discover that you have to call and set up a new contract. A Vivint expert will still come to your home to make sure there are no integration issues, and they may offer options on upgrades. It's a preliminary trip, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without paying for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you get some new devices.
The outgoing owners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time transfer cost to make the process a snap. If the owners are moving to an apartment complex or retirement community, transferring the Vivint service might be a condition of the sale.
You need to move and bring your old components with you
You might need to bring your favorite Vivint system with you to a new place when you move. That’s pretty easy to transfer, as most smart devices are portable. You can take down each alarm or camera yourself or use a professional expert to take care of the system. Then a pro will hang the same features -- and any additions you want to put in -- in the new house. And your home security contract will stay the same.
